An open letter of love from a once struggling person to a non-profit is warming hearts across Krugersdorp.
“You have given me hope, restored my faith in humanity, and proved that a simple act of kindness can change someone’s life forever.”
Krugersdorp, South Africa (02 August, 2023) — Across Krugersdorp community groups, an anonymous open love letter is doing the rounds, warming hearts line by line.
In a world where the vulnerable are often deduced to statistics or mere faces in the crowd, the open love letter sheds light on the individuals behind the data; the real lives that are touched.
Written by ‘Mr B’, the letter is dedicated to the helpers at the Cradle of Hope non-profit and was shared as a testimonial by the team.
The Open Letter of Love Reads:
Deepest gratitude and admiration for the team at the Cradle of Hope.
During a dark and challenging time in my life, struggling on the streets, their kindness and welcoming smiles became my daily beacon of hope.
Their daily sandwich program was not only an essential source of nutrition, but it was a comfort knowing that there were people out there who cared for me Your kindness, compassion, and dedication gave me the strength and resilience to regain myself and get back on my feet.
You guys are amazing -each one of you is a true hero. Words cannot express how much you mean to me and the countless others you impact daily. You are making the world a kinder and more compassionate place, one act of service at a time
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible work You have given me hope, restored my faith in humanity, and proved that a simple act of kindness can change someone’s life forever.
With much love and respect,
Mr B
So, who are the people that inspired this letter that has us chopping onions?
About the Cradle of Hope NPC
Based in Krugersdorp, the Cradle of Nope NPC offers help wherever they can to everyone they can; lending a hand-up toward social upliftment. The non-profit organises essential goods, support, kindness and a sense of empowerment for the less fortunate, with a big focus on women and children.
Their philosophy is giving people a hand-up over a hand-out, which is why many of their programmes focus on future-proofing better paths.
There’s the House of Restoration where vulnerable and destitute women can find safety, their programme that facilitates education initiatives, the emergency shelters (as inspired by founder Melodie van Brakel’s), a community feeding scheme as well as a self-feeding initiative.
