Music is set to play an important role in securing nutritious meals for hungry school children, and you can make a difference simply by enjoying an occasion of opera, song and dance at Artscape thanks to the HEROES II Gala Concert:

Cape Town, South Africa (20 November 2024) — Feeding organisation Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) believes that you can’t teach a hungry child. As such, they have been putting nutritious meals on the table for thousands of learners each and every day in a bid to nourish bodies, minds and futures. This November, PSFA is thrilled to share that a special fundraising opportunity will see music drive these meals forward thanks to the HEROES II Gala Concert!

Hosted by Artscape, the HEROES II Gala Concert is following in the successful footsteps of last year’s event.

A musical affair, the goal is to raise awareness of child hunger, its impact on important elements of development like education and play a role in supporting PSFA’s services that ultimately shape lives.

“It goes beyond a simple plate of food,” reflected Petrina Pakoe who considers herself proud product of the school feeding programme. “It is about making sure the meals are filling and nutritious. Adequate nutrition is essential for the growth and development of children and to help combat malnutrition and related health issues.”

PSFA have served over two billion nutritious meals to school children in the Western Cape to date, and isn’t looking at slowing down anytime soon! With talented musicians once again in their corner, they hope that HEROES II will hit a high note of impact.

From 27 November, the gala concert is set to feature internationally acclaimed opera singers like Lana English, orchestras like the Masikhule Community Orchestra, school choirs, talents like Sian Atterbury and Loren Erasmus, the contemporary dance magic of Izzy Gomez and much more.

“Your attendance at this special event guarantees an evening of musical enchantment and contributes to a meaningful cause that makes a difference in our community,”

You can grab your tickets to the musical extravaganza here.
