Professor Rossouw von Solms of Nelson Mandela University has been honoured as the number one Top Scholar in Information Security thanks to a prestigious ranking that assessed scholars from around the world:
Port Elizabeth, South Africa (16 May 2024) — A professor at Nelson Mandela University has been honoured as the number one Top Scholar in Information Security according to a globally-renowned scholarly ranking system!
Professor Rossouw von Solms achieved the top spot ranking determined by ScholarGPS for a lifetime of work in the specialised field.
According to the data, the computer science professor beat out over 36,000 scholars for the coveted spot in Information Security.
“Highly Ranked Scholars, the top 0.05% in particular fields, disciplines and specialities, are the most productive (number of publications) authors, whose works are of profound impact (citations) and of utmost quality (h-index),” said Nelson Mandela University.
The University adds that the professor has authored or co-authored 149 publications in Information Security over his career, and has attracted 5,988 with a h-index sitting at 38.
Not only is this a remarkable achievement for the academic Rossouw, but it has also helped position Nelson Mandela University to be ranked as the “third most prolific institution internationally” for Information Security.
The professor’s achievement has undoubtedly inspired many young scholars, and is a shining example of the gems South Africa has when it comes to our leaders in education!
