Held together with duct tape, one homeless man’s prosthetic leg moved a woman to do more for someone she saw every day on the streets.
Northcliff, Johannesburg – Linda Momberg Swart asked the Angel Network for help to get a man a new, better fitting prosthetic leg. The man, who stands on the side of Hendrik Potgieter, is a regular to many. Linda has seen as his leg has slowly deteriorated to the point it prevents him from working.
She felt something needed to be done and contacted the Northcliff Orthopaedic Centre for help. The centre agreed to take on his case should the funds required, get donated.
Linda then took to her local community Facebook group as well as to the Angel Network for funding assistance. The Angel Network agreed and has started to raise funds for the gentleman.
“Hi everybody. I need you to open your hearts and your purses to assist me please. Everybody that has travelled along Hendrik Potgieter just past Makro will know this young man. He begs over weekends as this is his only source of income.
He wears a prosthesis which is so broken he had to give up his employment as a seller as he now has to make use of crutches. In an effort to get him off the street, in conjunction with Northcliff Orthopaedic Centre, funds are being raised to have a new prostesis made and then help him seek employment.
Any donations big or small will be greatly appreciated. You can DM or inbox me for further details. TIA.
PS. I forgot to add it is his birthday tomorrow (10 Sepetember 2019) and Northcliff Orthopaedic Centre gave him a set of crutches.”
The man has two legs but one us much shorter than the other, by about 50cm. He has relied on a prosthetic leg to do his work.
If you would like to help get the man, who Linda has kept anonymous for safety reasons, you can donate to the Angel Network who will manage the money on Linda’s behalf.
