Nhlanhla Molele, a driven South African boy, equipped with a prosthetic leg and sports blade from Jumping Kids, is soaring to new heights and pursuing his athletic dreams.

Meyerton, South Africa (01 November 2024) – Born with a congenital limb difference that caused a deformity on his left leg below the knee, Nhlanhla Molele faced challenges that could have hindered his dreams of playing like other boys his age.

However, after his primary school teacher recognised his energy and potential, she reached out to Jumping Kids for assistance on behalf of Nhlanhla’s family.

Jumping Kids is a non-profit company which supplies and maintains quality prosthetic equipment for children living with lower limb amputation or limb-related disability across South Africa and into the continent.

In 2021, Nhlanhla received his first custom prosthetic leg, a tool that unlocked a world of possibilities and the ability to partake in regular everyday activities. With newfound mobility, he has embraced life with renewed zest for life.

“At school, I’m able to play sports and participate in gumboots dance, and at home, I can help with household chores like fetching water and cleaning the house. It is important to be able to do all these things independently,” Nhlanhla says.

More recently, the Grade 7 learner at Sicelo Primary School received a sports blade for his left leg, which he is excited to use to try out more sports, start swimming lessons and push the boundaries of his abilities.

According to The Star Foundation, Nhlanhla has also shown an interest in Life Skills and Human Rights Ambassadorship in particular.

“Nhlanhla’s passions certainly lean toward areas where he hopes to one day help make a difference. For him, it is about the simple things that his prosthetic equipment enables him to do.”
