Retreat Maternity Clinic’s nurses and midwives were honoured for all their hard work with beautiful care packs, treats and certificates of recognition.
Cape Town, South Africa (12 February 2021) – Midwives and nurses at the Retreat Maternity Clinic were honoured for all they have done despite the challenges faced during the height of the pandemic’s first wave in South Africa. These women faced many challenges, but they worked hard to support each and every patient that needed them.
The Newlands Rotary held a celebration in honour of these nurses and midwives, gifting them care packs filled with toiletries, treats and certificates of recognition for their service. They teamed up with the Zoe Project to make the special day happen.
The Zoe Project is a non-profit community-based organisation that provides maternal health care programmes supporting vulnerable women, girls and babies in the Western Cape.
“It was a wonderful morning filled with lots of laughter, but it was also difficult to hear how tired these nurses are physically, emotionally and spiritually, having to put their health on the line in order to bring new babies into the world while some people are so lax about wearing masks and social distancing.” – Shelley Finch, Newlands Rotary
Showing love and support helps boost morale when times get tough. So honouring the nurses and midwives from the Retreat Maternity Clinic was exactly what was needed to revitalise their tired minds.
