Nicole Heiman is a South African that is making life colourful for hospital patients and even our 4-legged friends, just by painting murals.

CEEP began in 2002 when Nicole Heiman saw a need to liven the hospitals she was going to visit as a student nurse. Nicole created the Hospital Painting Project to provide stimulating murals for children in the hospital to brighten their moods and to provide educational instruction through the use of colourful and interesting art work.

The project has become something way more for children, animals & other patients in hospitals and clinics.

“The painting of hospital murals, toy collection and distribution to HIV clinics, improvement of conditions for doctors and repair of kid’s play areas are just some of what Nicole’s NPO, Community Environment Education Project , focus on through their Hospital Painting Project.”

Nicole mentions that some of the benefits of the artwork includes reducing staff tension and  improving working conditions for hardworking nurses by creating a pleasant environment.  The paintings also give children something educational and beautiful to look at whilst waiting for long periods for treatment and even assists doctors with diagnostic techniques in some wards where patients are asked to identify what they are seeing.  Companies and volunteers are also enriched through their volunteering and by brightening up the day of a young patient.

Nicole is making a huge difference in our community, each project the teams complete, have an important message behind them.

“The mural has being done to educate the children on the importance of respecting and caring for birds and small animal found in the suburbs. ” she says, talking about a project she has started at SPCA.
