Sindi Dayile works as a paramedic with Western Cape Metro EMS, she was rushed to hospital with severe COVID symptoms and ended up in a coma for 23 days – This is her journey from ICU to the vaccination room.
Cape Town, South Africa (04 March 2021) – Sindi Dayile is one of the many frontline workers that contracted Covid-19 in the line of duty. She didn’t realise she had the virus until her husband called the ambulance as she was struggling to breathe.
She woke up in ICU a few weeks later, having been in a coma for 23 days. Sindi then underwent a full recovery and today continues to save lives as a paramedic for the Western Cape Metro EMS.
With the vaccine rollout, all frontline medical workers are currently receiving vaccinations, and Sindi finally got her chance. She visited the Tygerberg Hospital, where she was a patient to get her vaccine shot and decided to pop in at the ICU to thank the nurses that saved her life.
Her story is an inspiring one and gives us chills. Take a look at her story below.
