wind band

The Greenwood Primary School wind band put together a melody of Johnny Clegg songs as a tribute to the South African musical legend.

Port Elizabeth, South Africa – The Greenwood wind band practised incredibly hard to honour South African musician, Johnny Clegg.

Since announcing his continued cancer treatment in August last year, people from all over South Africa have been honouring his music. 50 South African musicians came together to raise money for his fund which aims to better education in South Africa.

His career has spanned decades, and he has a place in the hearts of many South Africans and global citizens. When he announced his cancer diagnosis, love and support flooded in.

Johnny hasn’t posted on his official Facebook page in some time; he is most likely spending time with family and focusing on his health just as he did after he made his announcement in August 2018.

The primary school wind band hope with their whole hearts that Johnny sees their tribute and know that they are thinking of him.

“It was very special for the music staff and pupils to put this video together. This tribute is to a man whose music has left an indelible mark on many, both young and old.

We hope that you enjoy the music video.”
