man in mud water fixing pipe

A photo taken of a man submerged up to his waist in the watery ground trying to fix a water line break became the latest social media viral sensation.

The photo of 23-year-old Jimmie Cox submerged up to his waist in water was snapped last week by Andrea Adams in Hood County, Texas, when the Acton Municipal Utility District worker came to fix a water line break in her driveway.

Adams posted the shot on her Facebook page, and within two hours she said “people in Brazil were commenting.”

“I’ve shut down my Facebook, turned off my email. I had a call from a lawyer in Atlanta that wanted to use the photo,” Adams told WFAA, Texas.

Cox said he can’t believe the attention the photo has created either.

Cox told WFAA he had only taken the call to pick up a little overtime. When the photo was shot he was trying to reach down five feet to try to clamp the line. That didn’t work he said “so we had to cut it and put a valve on there when it was underwater.”

As for working blind underwater, Cox told WFFA: “In this line of work, people do it a lot.”

Now he’s getting an offer from one of America’s favorite reality stars, Mike Rowe, the host or narrator of five reality shows including “Airplane Repo,” “Deadliest Catch,” and “Somebody’s Gotta Do It.”

Rowe commended the hard worker on his official Facebook page.

“I don’t know who this guy is, but he’s all over my wall, all over Facebook, and all over the Internet. Hell of a thing to have your photo go viral, and still remain completely anonymous. At any rate, if you recognize him, tell him the first beer is on me,” Rowe wrote.

With Mike offering to buy Jimmie a beer, the young plumber also went on to receive a year’s supply of Wrangler jeans for wearing their brand while fixing Andrea’s pipe. Wrangler commented on Mike Rowe’s status saying: “That’s a helluva dirty job. You buy the beer, Mike, and we’ll get him some new jeans.”

I don't know who this guy is, but he's all over my wall, all over Facebook, and all over the Internet. Hell of a thing…
