Pilot Anton Millar went above and beyond to help the Owl Rescue Centre rescue a chick in need; he flew over 2000kms to get the chick to safety.
North-West, South Africa – The Owl Rescue Centre rehabilitates and cares for injured and captive owls from all over the Gauteng area. Their main aim is to protect, rescue and release owls back into the wild but they also got into the plastic recycling business in 2018.
The Owl Rescue Centre started collecting plastic in January 2018 and aimed for just 200 tonnes at the time to start recycling and converting it into owl shelters, bat houses and bee hotels. In April this year, they celebrated collecting over 2 500 tons in just over a year!
With their excellent work inspiring so many people, people have gone above and beyond to help them do even more. Recently pilot Anton Millar flew 2000km to collect a chick and take it to the Owl Rescue Centre to be cared for.
The centre thanked Anton for volunteering to assist them. Hundreds of people have been moved by the efforts made by the selfless pilot.
The centre does everything it can to protect the owls of South Africa. If you want to get involved, there are many ways to do so. You can find out how to get involved via their Facebook page here.
