Police Constable Laeeq Engelbrecht, stationed at Kraaifontein Police Station, has warmed South Africa’s heart with a simple act of kindness.

The constable was photographed by a colleague sharing his lunch with a homeless lady named Magdaleen, in the Cape Town CBD.

While some have called him a hero, he has responded to such claims by saying he is simply doing his duty, according to ENCA.

According to the South African Police Service’s Facebook page, Engelbrecht often interacts with the homeless and even provides them with Christmas lunch last year.

“He hopes that he can ensure that Magdaleen is reunited with her family so that she no longer has to endure life on the hard, cold streets,” according to the SAPS.
