post office

After seeing a complaint post on Facebook two men went to their local post office and cleaned it up for the public and inspired everyone.

Melanie Gardner visited the Wierdapark Post Office and received a big shock at how filthy it was. She took photos of clogged drains and rubbish scattered between the walls of blue postboxes. She was horrified that it had been left to look like that and shared her complaints on a Centurion Facebook group.

She then returned a week or so later and was met with a great surprise. Two men were there… cleaning the drains and floors. She couldn’t believe it so she approached them to find out more.

“Hello Centurion. You will probably remember my post about the state of the Wierdapark Post Office, the dirty gutters and filthy floors. Well, I was back to fetch post today, and I could not believe to see someone cleaning and mopping up.”

“Curiosity got the better of me, and I asked the gentleman named Herman if he regularly cleans up or what was going on. He said no and that he was just doing it out of his own after seeing the Facebook posts! This man and his worker deserves our total gratitude and most importantly RESPECT!

Thank you very very much! I have faith in humanity again.” – Melanie Gardner

People have been really appreciative for their effort in cleaning the place up.

A big thank you to him and his guys. Beautiful to see such acts…” – Lesetja Victor Maloka

Thank you, Herman and team, you have restored my faith in humanity!” – Lehanne Harding Creevy

“Well done Herman once again the community spirit of Centurion has shown through. Thank you” – Avryl Joy Horen
