Lyla was adopted by a family in Belgium after they spent time volunteering at the Animal Welfare Society of SA, and she is loving her new life overseas.
Cape Town, South Africa (06 April 2022) – The Animal Welfare Society of South Africa shared a fantastic bunch of photos with us, showing how pup Lyla is adapting to life in Belgium. It was a heartwarming update to see, so we knew we needed to share it!
Lyla is a rescue dog that was living at the Animal Welfare Society of South Africa (AWS SA) in Phillipi, Cape Town. She is a husky looking mix-breed, and her life changed in the best way! When AWS SA found her six months ago, she was a scared and timid little dog that had been tied up to a disused shipping container on their premises.
AWS SA hosts volunteers from around the world, and volunteer Nyrio from Belgium joined them while on a family holiday. Nyrio and his sister Nyra had raised over R16,000 for AWS SA by selling waffles in Belgium. Nyrio visited the organisation in Phillipi, and that is when he met Lyla. He was so taken by her character and sweet nature that he decided to adopt her.
The family landed in South Africa on the 7th of March and spent days bonding with Lyla. They have made all the necessary arrangements and leave South Africa, with Lyla too, on the 21st of March 2022.
Lyla has since arrived safely in Belgium. Take a look at how different her life is today. We cannot get enough of these images!
