“In the city there are many dogs. When the bar closes each night, the dogs come and sleep here. We don’t have a problem. From July, every night there is a dog on the couch.”
When no one shows up at a little boys birthday party, strangers save the day!
When Ashlee Buratti threw a birthday party for her son Glenn, a six-year-old with a mild form of autism and epilepsy, not one of his 16 classmates invited turned up. Buratti took to a Facebook page to describe how heartbroken she felt as the youngster kept asking, “when will my friends come?”
“To see the look on his face killed me inside,” she wrote.
Her local Florida community was quick to rally to the cause. Burrati was inundated with requests from parents asking whether they could come along with their children. In total, about 15 children and 25 adults came to eat cake and give gifts, including a bike.
Then the local sheriff’s office got involved, with a helicopter flyover over Glenn’s home. A nearby fire crew also put in an appearance and the birthday boy was invited to have a look round a fire engine and take a ride on a police motorbike.

Donations pouring in for Darren August… a South African who may never walk again after trying to stop a robbery
A campaign to raise money was started for a man who was thrown from a moving train after he attempted to intervene a robbery. Darren August, from Athlone, was on his way to Somerset West last Monday where he works as a facilitator and teaches homeless children.
He and four other commuters were in a carriage when nine men boarded and robbed the passengers near Firgrove station. Darryn told a cousin that a heavily pregnant woman was among those being terrorised. His brother Bernard told News sites that Darryn tried to talk the robbers out of it.
“When he tried to intervene, one of the guys hit him with a crowbar. He tried to get up but he was stabbed in the head with a knife,” he said. “Darryn lost consciousness for a few minutes and when he came to, he was being tossed out of the train.”
The 27-year-old hit a tree before he landed, breaking his spine.
Graeme Dale Kuys, a close friend of Darren, started a campaign to raise money to help him during this tough time. Over R15,000 was raised from the public, and their kind hearts!
A Durbanite decided to share a moment with a stranger which completely changed both of their lives.
Tristan Kock stopped at his local petrol station & decided to speak to a homeless person who had seen often but never approached. Whenever he goes to the petrol station near his house, he always sees this young man sitting outside with not even a blanket to his name. Nobody even acknowledges that he exists.
One night he went up and spoke to him, the man was very shy.
He told me that nobody ever speaks to him. I asked him what he had had for dinner, he told me that he hadn’t eaten a proper meal since the day before.
So he decided to take him on a little shopping spree. They went inside of the Garage and Tristan gave him a basket & told him to pile up the basket with whatever his heart desires.
“At then end of it all he asked me why I did this. I told him it was because I care. We are all in this together, God has blessed me with more than I could ever ask for.”
