Two Hout Bay restaurants have adopted four animal welfare organisations and patrons can who’ve adopted from them get a free pet meal each time they dine in.
Hout Bay, South Africa (29 March 2023) – If you dine at Massimo’s or The Pelican, two restaurants in Hout Bay, and you have adopted a pet from one of four welfare organisations and every time you eat at either, they will send a free meal for your pet. It’s dining for a purpose; encouraging adoption from animal shelters.
Massimo and Tracy opened Massimo’s in 2009, in Hout Bay, Western Cape. They are incredibly passionate about food, their clients and bettering South Africa!
They started a “pay-it-forward” campaign at the beginning of 2015 to make it easier for the Hout Bay community to give back. While they were open, Massimo’s clients could buy one or more R10 ‘virtual’ slices of pizza, and for every six slices sold, Massimo’s would deliver an entire pizza to a local charity or institution.
The team have continued their charitable efforts through a variety of projects, many of which focus on animal welfare. The latest project is a loyalty-style card that regulars can use to gift free meals to their pet if its been adopted from the below animal welfare organisations.
“Great news for doggy lovers…
Adopt a dog from:
- DARG,
- Border Collie Rescue Cape Town,
- TEARS,
- The Animal Welfare Society of SA
And your new friend will receive a personalized ID card for FREE meals every time you visit us or The Pelican in Hout Bay
Ps.we don’t have exclusivity on this, we would love for other restaurants to join us or have their own ID cards”
Charity done this way allows one to make small contributions each time. Every little bit adds up at the end of the day.
