The royal family has lauded Dr Zolelwa Sifumba for her advocacy of care and support for healthcare workers in South Africa.
South Africa (08 March 2021) – Dr Zolelewa Sifumba is an ICU doctor in South Africa. She was recently celebrated for her efforts in making sure health care workers are being supported and cared for during the pandemic. As she has been on the ground, she has seen the pure exhaustion and burnout being felt by her colleagues.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Princess Kate, spent some time catching up with Dr Sifumba. They thanked her for what she is doing in support of her fellow healthcare workers.
She advocates by asking people to step up and help where they can. She explains that if you know a healthcare worker, to offer them help around the house. Offer to cook a meal, to babysit or even take on a few loads of washing. If you can do anything, offer them as much love and support as possible.
It is these small actions that can help keep these men and women fighting fit. This pandemic has taken so from us but what it cannot take is our kindness, our offers of support and our love!
You can watch the celebration of Commonwealth Day below. We took the liberty of sharing the video below at the time-stamp of Dr Zolewa’s interview, but if you wish to see the entire celebration, you need only start the video from the beginning.
