Mihlali Mitch Matyala started a sanitary pad drive #GiveMeAPad for his 20th birthday and made a real difference so he has relaunched it for his 22nd birthday

Mitch was inspired by Daniella Zinanni a pupil from Elkanah House in Cape Town, who founded the Bhabhathane butterfly foundation (BFF).

Mitch was interviewed on Cape Talk about his sanitary pad drive. Mitch explained that it is a big issue in South Africa that nobody is really talking about. He hopes that inspires people to stop sweeping it under the rug.

Mitch asked all his friends to bring pads instead of gifts for his birthday and now he is running the initiative for 22 days. He is going against the grain among his friends and feels he and his guy friends could learn from the experience.

He will be giving the sanitary pads to the Bhabhathane butterfly foundation which will help many school girls who miss school on a monthly basis.

BBF is a project started by Daniella Zinanni. She collects donations of sanitary hygiene and related products and raises money to purchase such products which she then distributes to schools in impoverished communities.

“Sanitary towels and other female hygiene products. Any related products which will give girls dignity and assist them during their periods. Products which enable education for girls.”

This is an amazing initiative and we love seeing guys get on board to address this issue.
