The “Against Cruelty To Animals” Society at Camps Bay High School supports local animal welfare charities, and the next on the list is SPCA.
Camps Bay, South Africa (16 May 2022) – The Camps Bay High School’s ACTA (Against Cruelty To Animals) Society supports various animal welfare projects over the course of the academic year. Having just completed a collection of kitten boxes in the first term, the society is now collecting donations for their local SPCA.
The start of 2022 saw the members of the ACTA society supporting the Raise ‘n Rescue‘s Shoebox Project. Raise ‘n Rescue is not an animal shelter – instead, they have different foster homes in and around Cape Town, and they help to rehome cats and kittens in need.
“We collected 27 kitten shoeboxes last term. Each member of the society who participated in the project chose a kitten at Raise n Rescue they wanted to help and then bought four or five items on the list provided by Raise n Rescue. The project was a lot of fun and it was very rewarding for the students at our school to know that they had helped a kitten in need.” – Tessa Sirin, student head of Camps Bay High School’s ACTA Society
They continued philanthropic activities by inviting the DARG (Domestic Animal Rescue Group) to the school’s Service Day. Members of ACTA also made toys for cats and walked dogs up for adoption at the organisation.
The students are helping their local SPCA this term, collecting items that will go towards enriching the lives of the animals at the SPCA. They welcome public participation in this project.
This term, the ACTA society is supporting the SPCA, and they are looking for donations of:
- Pet Food
- Blankets/towels/cloths
- Ripped/torn clothes
- Pillows
- Toys
- Water/food bowls (old ice-cream tubs or Tupperwares that have lost their lids!)
- Pet leashes/collars
Donations may be dropped off at Camps Bay High School for distribution to the SPCA.
