Dylan Harris was on his way to school when he saw Christine Gazi being attacked by a mugger. He quickly intervened to help her even though he then became the target.
Secunda, Mpumalanga – Dylan was on his way to school when he saw a fellow student from Secunda High School being attacked in the strip near Secunda Primary.
The attacker was trying to steal Christine Gazi’s cellphone. He intervened using his bicycle and when the attacker’s attention was diverted, Christine got her chance to run to safety.
The attacker turned his full attention on Dylan in the scuffle, his phone was taken but thankfully he escaped without any major injury.
“Dylan Harris is a Grade 11 pupil of Secunda High School and Christine Gazi a Grade 10 pupil of Secunda High School.
We are very proud of Dylan’s courageous response and grateful that the two pupils are safe. Parents are advised to ensure that their children do not walk or cycle alone in the green strips near Secunda Primary School.”
People were deeply moved by his efforts to protect Christine. A few have come forward to help cover the cost of his stolen phone. Christine’s mother was so grateful for his efforts as well.
