The Handicapped Scuba Crew got a donation that will go towards helping more people with disabilities to access rehabilitation or just learn an adventurous new skill.
Pretoria, South Africa (05 December 2022) – Adaptive scuba diving is a thing in South Africa and it is giving people with disabilities, the opportunity to explore a whole new adventurous side! The Handicapped Scuba Crew uses diving as a tool to help with rehabilitation efforts.
The water is a powerful place that can have incredible healing, whether physically or mentally. With the right support, many people with disabilities are finding their own love of being in the water, by learning to dive.
Handicapped Scuba Crew is a registered Public Benefits Organisation (PBO) that supports people with various disabilities. They offer rehabilitation to get people back into normal society, giving them the same opportunities to receive quality training, certification and chances to go on dive adventures.
To date, they have helped so many hopeful divers, from giving invaluable training, to raising funds to have special gear made – including prescription goggles for divers with visual impairments.
The team’s vehicle was spotted recently while on the road and not long after, they got a call to let them know there was a substantial donation of gear waiting to be collected. The donation from Brooke Bussell of AC&C will go a long way in supporting the work being done by the team.
