Andries Monare was honoured by Waterstone Village for saving a child’s life when he saw an attacker approaching the child with a knife in hand

Andries Monare was honoured by Waterstone Village’s centre management, the local community, customers and tenants of the shopping centre located in Helderberg.

Andries received the award for “Excellence in Service” along with gifts donated by the community. This was all done to thank him for his bravery and vigilant reaction by preventing a serious incident.

A perpetrator allegedly tried to stab a child in the chest with a knife. The heroic security guard noticed the accused approaching the child and took him down with force before he could stab the child.

“We are just thankful that no harm was caused to the child and we keep the parents in our prayers. The perpetrator will appear in Court again on the 23rd January 2019. Thank you, Andries, for being our Hero” – Waterstone Village

During the handover, Andries was draped in a cape to show his heroic actions didn’t go unnoticed. The story made national news after the incident but Andries’s actions were not mentioned at the time, we are so happy to be able to report about him being honoured and so many followers are grateful he was there to prevent a tragedy.

Well done Andries. You are a true hero. Thank you and all the wonderful security at Waterstone village for the excellent job they do on a daily basis” – Shelley van Schoor
