On a mission to restore dignity to women in need, Kindness Like Confetti is encouraging people to show they care with underwear—a collection for these essentials!

Johannesburg, South Africa (02 February 2025) — Restoring a sense of dignity and security for those who most need it often starts with the bare necessities. A comfortable bra and a fresh pair of underwear can go a very long way in helping someone feel better than they did the day before, especially if they cannot afford these items for themselves. In this way, showing you care with underwear isn’t just a simple donation; it’s an effort synonymous with dignity.

This is where organisation Kindness Like Confetti works their goodwill.

A non-profit organisation, Kindness Like Confetti are dedicated to restoring dignity in a myriad of ways. These include collecting and distributing sanitary projects, knitting efforts with newborns in mind, supplying dignity bags that support victims of violence and trauma and Project Uplift—a bid to help women in need with the basics like underwear.

“The underwear we collect and donate provides women with dignity and protection and gives them a sense of confidence,’ says KLC’s Nandi.

Just imagine how you feel on laundry day when your favourite bras are out of action, and you’re forced to wear that one hiding in the back of the closet that just doesn’t fit right. You might feel agitated, insecure and even thrown off from your usual self. When you can finally put that perfectly-fitting bra on again, it’s an unspoken kind of relief. Now, consider that feeling of relief and amplify it many times over. That’s an inkling of the kind of impact Project Uplift is all about!

Here’s How to Show You Care With Underwear

  • Rally your gently worn bras and panties and encourage friends and family to do the same.
  • Ensure that the clothing items are in good condition and are clean. Gently worn refers to an item that has been worn minimally, taken care of and is a few notches short of being as good as new.
  • Organise dropping the items off.
  • KLC has different drop-off points all over the country. To find a location closest to you, you can contact info@kindness.org.za
