With vibrant acrylic paints and masterful strokes, Siphesihle Ntsungwana creates captivating artworks that evoke emotion and thought.
Durban, South Africa (01 September 2024) – Talented creative artist Siphesihle Ntsungwana put down his paintbrush for a moment to chat with Good Things Guy about his profound ability to breathe life onto canvas.
From humble beginnings as a young artist, Siphesihle has steadily built a reputation for his exceptional talent. His dedication to his craft and his ability to connect with his audience has led to international recognition, including praise from renowned musicians like American R&B singer Brent Faiyaz.
Taking us back to where it all began, Siphesihle divulged that he has always been artistic, finding joy in drawing cartoons as a youngster.
“From primary school to high school, I was excellent in the Creative Arts subject, so in grade 10 I decided to be on the Art and Engineering stream which had subjects such as Engineering Graphics and Design, Visual Arts, Physical Science and Mathematics,” shared Siphesihle who went on to study Fine Arts at the Durban University of Technology.
For Siphesihle, art is his first love-turned-career.
“It is something I enjoy doing and I’ve found ways to turn it into a business. My medium of choice is acrylic paint. It’s a medium I’ve been working with so far. I’m also open to trying other mediums soon.”
Asked what goes behind the artist’s creative process when creating his masterpieces, Siphesihle said it all begins with an idea or a topic that he wants to convey in his work.
“Then I take reference photos of what I want to portray as a painting, then it continues from there. I enjoy portraits the most. Portraits have more emotion. I enjoy capturing those emotions and formulating a story through the painting.”
Not only does Siphesihle leave his online audience constantly in awe of his talent, but he also manages to get the attention of the celebrities he paints portraits of both locally and internationally!
“Being recognised by international musicians is life-changing. It’s always nice to get a response from anyone towards my work regardless of who they are. It gives me the proof or validation that I’m doing something right with my work,” Siphesihle shared.
Siphesihle’s journey speaks to the power of creativity and the boundless possibilities that art can offer.
As a local artist, his ultimate dream is to have his work recognized by more people around the world and serve as an example of how far art can take you. Siphesihle hopes to inspire upcoming local artists to aspire to do the same.
