Lebo Mogoma - All the feels: Siya Kolisi invited Helpmekaar student to awards evening!

Siya Kolisi invited Lebo Mogoma to a prestigious awards evening and then took him on stage too!

Hyde Park, South Africa – The third annual prestigious BrightRock Players Choice Awards was held at “The Park” in Johannesburg on Tuesday evening and the young learner from Helpmekaar College, who recently took social media by storm with all his emotions after seeing the Springboks, finally got the chance to meet his heroes in person!

Lebo Mogoma’s emotion was recently captured by Eyewitness News as the Boks started their victory parade off in Johannesburg at Helpmekaar College but his story was unknown. All South Africa saw was an emotional young man after seeing the Springboks and captain Siya Kolisi.

The tearful photos were rapidly shared all over social media, but luckily we now have a new picture of a young man smiling… while on stage with all his heroes!

Last night the World Cup champion Captain brought the 15-year-old student to the BrightRock Players Choice Awards but he was actually invited to accept Cheslin Kolbe’s award for Backline Player of the Year!

Layla Kolbe confirmed to Good Things Guy that her husband, Cheslin, arranged for Mogoma to go onto the stage on his behalf, as Cheslin is his biggest hero. That was actually why he cried on the original viral video after seeing Cheslin in real life.

The awards – held by the players, for the players – are the only of their kind in South Africa and sees professional rugby players from SA’s 14 unions vote for their top players across six awards categories. The seventh is the BrightRock Fans’ Choice category where SA rugby fans have the chance to vote for their favourite players of 2019.
