Last year, Gareth James made South Africa proud as our sole nominee for a Country Music Awards Event in Texas. Now, the South African Country singer is set to tour the States!
Global (07 June 2024) — South African Country singer Gareth James has been in the music industry for over a quarter of a century. But it was last year that he got his shining moment in the sun after being recognised as a nominee for the Annual Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards—the only South African nominated at that.
A lot has happened since then, and in incredible news for his career, the South African Country singer and raspy songbird is set to spread his wings and embark on a tour to the heart of country music—the United States.
Set to perform alongside Creatio (a North Carolina artist) Gareth’s sounds will light up the States for a four-month-long stretch beginning in July. As any South African musician will appreciate, the chance to tour internationally is no chump change of an experience. For Gareth, it comes after years of honing his crafts from songwriting to performing, and in tow with other success stories for his music; including having won two South African Country Music Awards and releasing a new and well-received song, “Better People”.
He will also be heading to the Country Music Awards that didn’t work out last year, making his upcoming adventure all the more heartwarming.

“Better People” is something of a moving anthem in the making. With lyrics like “the world don’t need another soap box preacher/Talking about streets of gold/Just someone they can lean on/And a steady hand to hold,” Gareth reminds us that genuine connection often overrides material possessions.
As for new music on the horizon, Gareth is set to release “Snap Your Fingers” in early September, so stay tuned.
