Birthday

Brett Nash is an incredible young man surrounded by equally incredible people, especially the staff at his local SPAR that make every day wonderful.

Brett Nash, 15-years-old, has lived his entire life with a clinically undiagnosed rare disease.  A group of doctors have managed to diagnose one of his conditions, Distal Arthrogryposis.

Every evening, Brett and his mother Tammy visit their local SPAR and the staff there always make it a special occasion for Brett. Tammy can’t really pinpoint exactly how the Spar shopping routine started but believes that it happened a little over 5 years ago and every evening since then, it has become the highlight of Brett’s day.

“He is always singing a tune as he is pretty much non-verbal and I think the one evening it just happened to be the tune to the National Anthem and it just got picked up from there.”

Every night is different. Sometimes it’s just two employees and sometimes it’s up to twenty, all depending on what time in the evening the family get there and which staff are on duty for that shift.

Brett’s story went viral when the staff all came together and sang for him at the entrance of the store. The original video has over 40,000 views.

The latest celebration was for Brett’s 15th birthday. The staff put all their money together and bought him a few gifts, a cake and sang for him.

“There are no words to describe the feeling of this. I’m so overwhelmed at the love every single staff member has shown Brettie over the years but this takes the cake.

Every staff member chipped in as well as the stunning lady from the Pet Shop at Retail Crossing. Who needs a party when you have this.

Sorry the filming is all over the place bit worth the watch

Thank you once again Retail Crossing Spar for making Brett’s 15th birthday one we will never forget”

We are in tears watching how the staff made his special day even better. It gives us goosebumps to see how a group of strangers became like family and created something so incredible. A lasting goodness that warms the soul!

The staff bought Brett clothing, shoes and his favourite colourful plastic balls. They also made a big cake for him. We are sure this is one birthday Brett will never forget. Watch the tear-jerking video below.
