Randburg SPCA Inspector Elvis Makhubedu is a hero; he spent the entire New Year weekend rescuing animals that had hidden away from the endless fireworks.

Randburg, South Africa (03 January 2022) – Some truly inspiring people run the SPCA branches throughout South Africa! Any animal rescuer will share that while the rehoming and healing of animals in need is the best, it is a taxing job on one’s heart. Rescuers get to see both the very worst of society and the best.

The Randburg SPCA shared that their New Year’s weekend was one for the books. And by that, they had many animal rescues and some truly tragic stories to share. They wanted to highlight the incredible effort made by their staff.

One person in specific, Elvis Makhubedu, spent his entire weekend working to protect animals affected by the fireworks.

“Another amazing rescue from our amazing staff!

Elvis has been busy this weekend. He has not hesitated to help where he can and we are so proud of him.
From helping to dig out a petrified dog hiding from the fireworks.

A puppy that was hit by a car, driving around in narrow dirt roads to locate the puppy who sadly had to be euthanased due to being paralyzed.

And then getting a call about a dog in a storm water drain…..this weekend has not been one for taking it easy.

Thank you to the person who called in to let us know about the poor pup stuck in the storm water drain. You are amazing for caring!

Elvis we know that it’s part of your job BUT you have been phenomenal this weekend and we at the SPCA and the public say a HUGE THANK YOU!”

The SPCA works solely thanks to the donations of the public and corporate South Africa. If you would like to support their efforts, you can find your nearest SPCA by checking the National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) website here. You can then reach out and see what your local branch needs most.
