Sorry Santa, this roof surprise outdid any sleigh landings!
Midrand, South Africa (12 June, 2023) — The SPCA Midrand got a special roof surprise recently. Although it felt like Christmas came early, no sleighs were involved. Instead, a big bunch of unexpected kindness came to the rescue of both the roof and the team.
The SPCA Midrand had been having an ordeal with their roof recently. Its clinic had seen some cracks and leaks and soon, dancing in the rain became an indoor affair. The buckets weren’t cutting it and even its kennel roofs were far from top shape, which meant that some animals couldn’t be sheltered when it rained.
Not to mention, a gaping hole in the roof came about after one unsuspecting morning saw a contractor crash into the reception area after a misstep on the roof’s boards (he’s okay). Wet animals, bucket-mayhem and now a massive hole in the roof, it was time for kindness to intervene.
For organisations like the SPCA, funding a roof repair is a big headache fleshed with a lot of planning. So, after the roof investigations were completed, the team waited with bated breath to see what the financial damage would be and whether they’d be able to make it work.
That’s when Christmas came early in the most special way.
“Before we could even open the quote, the email read that Helge and his wife Meryl would be donating ALL the work to us FREE of charge as part of their ongoing contribution towards Animal Welfare!”—SPCA Midrand.
The roof repairs were literally and figuratively on the house!
Thanks to the kindness of Speedy Roof Repairs’ owners, the SPCA Midrand got a repaired roof and kennels a new sunroof—because light should always shine in on unsung heroes—and other necessary maintenance.
The SPCA branch shared that they couldn’t have been more touched; especially because the Good Samaritans are already animal welfare supporters, contributing regular food donations to the branch.
“You have no idea how much this truly means to us and the very big impact you have made in the lives of our SPCA and the many animals that we serve and protect!”—SPCA Midrand.
