Street Vendor sign

Tom has life goals and he is letting everyone know about it. Tom sells Doritos as a street vendor and aims to use the profits to expand his business.

Tom is a street vendor in Johannesburg, he can be spotted on William Nicol Drive about a block from the Bryanston Shopping Centre going towards Sandton.

Every single day Tom stands on his section of the road and sells small packets of Doritos for R 6.00. He also has his yellow sign in hand every day that reads,

“Hi Everyone! Doritos R6.00.”

“My name is Tom. Please help to start and expand my business. Regards”

While Tom is classified as an informal trader / street vendor, which most South Africans find somewhat annoying, he is out there making a business for himself in a country where opportunity isn’t available in abundance. His drive has inspired Facebook users which is why his story was shared on the Pam Green #SecondChances page.

The page has been encouraging people to support Tom and we fully agree. Tom is an inspiration to us, proving that everybody starts from somewhere.

The Facebook users who have met him say he is a really great and driven person.

“I have bought from him before. He was so nice and very appreciative.” -Nadia Auerbach

“Saw him the other day. He was at the corner of William Nicol and Peter Place. Was very impressed with his entrepreneurial skills 😊” – Caroline Roditis

More South Africans should be like Tom!
