points men

The street vendors became informal points men at an intersection in Johannesburg to help alleviate traffic congestion, they did it for nothing in return

Frustration and anger are the two most felt emotions when stuck in traffic. Even more infuriating is the fact that roads and traffic lights that should be working, don’t work! Anyone that travels on Cedar Road in Fourways, Johannesburg will know that it has been some time since the traffic lights have been operational.

On the 4th of March 2017 Facebook user Keleigh-Ché Zukor was stuck in the blood boiling traffic when it started moving normally. As she got closer she spotted two of the street vendors in the road. They had taken it upon themselves to help the people stuck in the traffic.

The duo became informal points men and directed the traffic smoothly and effectively. What these guys did was selfless and very helpful.

“These men are not appointed points men, just very helpful and thoughtful vendors taking initiative! Please give them a thumbs up when you drive past! They have helped the traffic massively👏👏#weneedmorepeoplelikethis #welldone”

We understand traffic can be frustrating and so we leave you with some food for thought.

You are not stuck in traffic, you are the traffic!

Sometimes even if you think you may be right, sometimes you are in the wrong on the road.

Always be kind, you are not the most important person on the road but one of many.
