An elderly man in need was discovered in a heart-tugging state. Trying to get his life back on track, a much-welcomed surprise came from a secret Samaritan rooting for him.
Krugersdorp, South Africa (25 June, 2023) — An elderly man referred to only as’ Uncle Sam’ had been going through a tough time. The kind of time few can imagine going through, especially in the latter chapters of life at 78 years old.
Found homeless and struggling in Gauteng, kindness walked through the streets Uncle Sam had come to know as a form of home. The Cradle of Hope NPC quickly stepped in the get him some essentials—blankets, pillows and food. Uncle Sam’s gratitude for the bare necessities was overwhelming, and soon the Cradle of Hope had the elderly man under its wing.
According to the NPC who uplift communities and individuals with bursts of hope and hand-ups for those who most need it, Uncle Sam has had a tough life. The man had lost one ear to cancer and reportedly had been kicked out by his family.
With a morale boost and strangers’ kindness and support in his arsenal, Uncle Sam managed to get himself a room to live in, taking him off the streets! However, a lot is still needed to take foot for the elderly man to live out this chapter of his new life with less stress.
Cue a secret Samaritan and a surprise package to bring an older man so much joy in beginning a brighter chapter.
Unboxing it, Uncle Sam found it was a full outfit just for him. Everything from socks to sneakers, a T-shirt, jeans and a puffer jacket—all new just like this chapter for him.
The Cradle of Hope shared the story with the hope of reminding people how simple things are game-changers for people who find themselves in complicated situations.
Uncle Sam’s better chapter is still being written. We can all take a leaf from the Secret Samaritan’s book to make a difference in helping it be a good one. There are still a few essential items Uncle Sam needs—basics like crockery, non-perishables, a two-plate stove and a bed.
