Supreme Queen Global Earth is here to give more African women their moment in the spotlight to inspire and be represented.

Global (14 May 2023)—The world of pageantry has evolved, with the empowerment of women at the forefront of the industry, not the back foot. By providing finalists with the platform to express themselves and raise important societal issues, the evolution of pageants has led to more inclusivity and opportunity for women from all walks of life.

One pageant that focuses on women empowerment is Supreme Queen Global Earth Africa (SQGEA), which has turned the spotlight on African women with a penchant for business and how they positively impact the world.

“Armed with my experience as Miss Earth Zambia and an entrepreneur in the legal and marketing industries, I knew I wanted to create space for women in leadership and business to be acknowledged for all they do. Furthermore, creating a platform for African women would further their endeavours and self-development and expand their networks. Supreme Queen Global Earth Africa has been established for this purpose: to provide a leading entrepreneurial and leadership platform for all women aged 21 – 55 of African descent. It’s a platform to amplify and utilise their voice for causes that impact our nation.”—Founder, Cartier Lebatie.

Following the debut of the SQGEA pageant in 2022, Lebatie is demonstrating a commitment to advancing the competition with the number of semi-finalists increasing from 45 to 85 contestants in 2023.

The competition will also narrow finalists down to 20 contenders, and the grand finale will crown the top three contestants for the year.

Supreme Queen Global Earth Africa has teamed up with Mrs Globe SA to focus on promoting women’s empowerment, personal development, and community service under the same sash.

The combo of Supreme Queen Global Earth Africa and Mrs Globe South Africa is a significant milestone in the history of African beauty pageants, making a more inclusive platform for women regardless of marital status (before Miss SA joined the bandwagon and because of the increased age limit).

Now, more women can showcase their talents, skills, and community service initiatives.

“The merged pageant will significantly impact women’s empowerment and gender equality in Africa. This is also a platform for women to be role models for young girls and to inspire them to pursue their dreams and become change-makers in their communities,”

A key differentiator to other pageants comes through the focus on women in business, whether those businesses are their own, are yet to embark on the journey of entrepreneurship or are climbing ladders and shattering glass ceilings in their industries.

An added bonus is that the SQGEA title holder can now represent South Africa at the Mrs Globe International Pageant moving forward!

“Our core belief of “ubuntu” and hope is written upon our DNA. It’s now inspiring the world. Now is the time for African women to own their power for themselves and the world. It’s time for us to embrace that spirit that makes us unique and show the world what we bring to the table when we unite and provide solutions that the world desperately needs.”—Cartier Lebatie.
