South African who surrendered his dogs because he lost his job… finds the pups a new home and a new job for himself.
Eastern Cape, South Africa (22 April 2022) – Susan Rae Fox from St Francis Animal Rescue (SFAR) had spent weeks trying to find a new home for Patrick Cornell’s pups after the farm manager “was unfairly retrenched from his position for being too old”.
“Pia and Takara’s Dad, Patrick, a Farm Manager on a Dairy Farm since 2014, has been retrenched and told he has just two weeks to find alternate accommodation and another job. Patrick’s greatest concern is finding a loving home for his beloved pets.”
Pia was adopted by a lovely family on a beautiful farm in Constantia, but it was Takara’s adoption that would set off a string of events that actually landed the Farm Manager a new job, a new home and a new safe space for him and his pup.
Life works in mysterious ways!
“You will remember Patrick Cornell, a Farm Manager, dismissed from his position because he was considered too old – who called St Francis Animal Rescue for help for his precious dogs. That call set off a string of events,” Susan Rae Fox from St Francis Animal Rescue posted to Facebook.
Cheryl Campbell from Sighthound Rescue contacted SFAR, as did Patricia Boshoff, who transported Pia, Patrick’s Africanis/Greyhound Cross, from Humansdorp to a beautiful farm in Constantia, where she was adopted by Frances Mary Archer.
When Patricia Boshoff met Patrick Cornell, she liked him immediately. As luck would have it, she and her husband have been looking for a Manager to help at their farm in the Magaliesberg, where they have horses grazing, chickens laying and growing veggies for home consumption.
“Patrick Cornell left Humansdorp for Magaliesberg with his beloved dog, Takara, for the start of a new life and a new adventure.
We are delighted at the outcome of this amazing adoption!”
It’s stories like these that remind us that sometimes what looks like an end is just the beginning. We are so happy for Patrick and Takara.
