Despite 2023 being a difficult year for the dog rescue centre, Dogtown South Africa, got to relish in many tail-wagging highs and achievements!
Pretoria, South Africa (08 January 2024) — To start off the new year on a tail-wagging note, Dogtown SA Rescue Centre has shared some of the best news from 2023 in bite-sized doses.
In case you’ve missed our stories about Dogtown SA before, the Pretoria-based, global award-winning animal rescue centre is committed to making a difference in the lives of animals. This is often in the most creative ways, thanks to clever ideas like their Dogtown calendar. But, they’re also known for the haven their scenic home creates for rescued dogs waiting for greener pastures, and the incredible team who maintain Dogtown’s magic.
From numerous dogs finding new homes to the success of the Spray-It-Forward initiative, 2023 was a year that definitely saw the ‘impawtence’ of community support, kindness and achievements.
In a recap, here is some of the best tail-wagging good news Dogtown South Africa enjoyed last year despite 2023 being dubbed as a difficult one!
2023 Tail-Wagging Good News for Dogtown Despite a Difficult Year
- 89 new rescues were taken in.
- 77 got new homes, with the Barking Mad Network Adoptions adding a further 86. In total, there were 163 adoptions.
- The Spray-It-Forward Initiative Helped Sterilise 409 animals (feral and domestic, male and female dogs and cats).
- The Barking Mad, Click-to-Feed initiative made over 14 000kgs of food possible for other shelters.
This is a reminder of how much good can be done when we all unleash our inner hero, and what can happen even when the going gets tough with a little help from good hearts.
