A teacher in Ghana wanted his rural students to have the best chance at a good future so he decided to teach them how to use Microsoft Word without any computers.
Owura Kwadwo is a teacher in Ghana who has come up with a creative way to ensure his rural students are computer literate. The creative teacher wants his students to have a fair chance at future jobs so he is teaching them to use MS Word…
The only catch is, there are no actual computers so he draws the screens on a blackboard and writes all the notes along the sides. Owura has taken a problem, being in a really poor community, and created a solution that will be helpful.
In an interview with Bored Panda, Owura confirmed that being in a rural farming community means a lack of resources but that the imagination is a great tool too.
“Every teacher has a way of presenting his subject to his students. This is my way,”
“I do it to make my students understand what I‘m teaching, at least to give a picture of what they will see assuming they were behind a computer.”
“I do make sure they understand everything well before they leave the class.”
People were really supportive of the creative teacher’s ability to provide this method of teaching. Some have even offered to donate laptops and projectors to help aid the rural school and better the opportunities for the kids. He plans to take any donations he receives to other schools as well so they can benefit too.
“I can also help out and give some of the donations to them, so they can also benefit through teaching ICT.”
