The Animal Anti-Cruelty League in Cape Town vets now have access to their own Ultrasound machine and Suction Unit thanks to a donation from a local private veterinary clinic.

Cape Town, South Africa (07 June 2023) – The Panorama Veterinary Clinic donated two pieces of much-needed medical equipment to the Animal Anti-Cruelty League of Cape Town (AACL). The donation included an Ultrasound machine and a Suction Unit. This donation will help the AACL vets perform even better and save more animal lives!

Animal welfare organisations play a vital role in supporting lower-income households when their pets get sick or need a check-up. The AACL in Cape Town sees thousands of animals each month and while they are able to treat most, having this previously-loved medical equipment will help them do more.

“We would like to say a massive thank you to Panorama Veterinary Clinic & Specialist Centre for the very generous donation of an Ultrasound machine and a Suction Unit to our hospital. They will be a very valuable additions to our hospital team!” – AACL Cape Town

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League was founded in 1956. Today there are branched in Johannesburg (this is the head office), Cape Town, Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Gqeberha, Ladysmith and Bredasdorp. The Cape Town branch in Epping was established in the early 1990’s after it was able to secure land in the industrial area but prior to that, it was founded in 1969.

The Cape Town branch is open Monday to Sunday and available if emergencies arise. The team treat animals, assists in housing and rehoming unwanted animals.

The AACL is based in Epping and welcomes support from the public. If you would like to get involved with the animals, you can reach out via Facebook here. One of our favourite stories this year was about the school that goes to AACL so that its young pupils can practice their reading on the animals up for adoption… Cute!!!
