Rachel and Siya Kolisi’s story of taking in his siblings as their own speaks to the importance of family and bonds built on love.
Cape Town, South Africa (21 August 2024) – Wife of Springbok captain, Rachel Kolisi shared a touching post about her and Siya’s decision to adopt his siblings 10 years ago.
At a young age, she willingly embraced the immense responsibility of raising her husband’s orphaned siblings, Liphelo and Liyema, as her own.
According to Kaya 959, Siya and Rachel brought Liphelo and Liyema, his orphaned siblings, into their family. They found the children living in foster care in Zwide, a township in Gqeberha. Siya’s mother had passed away in 2009, leaving his siblings without parents. Siya hadn’t seen Liphelo and Liyema in years before they were reunited.
“While celebrating Liphelo’s birthday last week, and having all 4 kids home for the weekend, we reflected on the fact that almost to the day, 10 years ago, Liphelo and Liyema came to spend a week with us in Cape Town to see that they were comfortable to make the move and come stay with us forever.
“I was 24 years old, Nic was 3 months old, Liphelo had just turned 7 and Liyema 12. 10 years, of the greatest gift God could have ever given me,” Rachel shared in the post.
