In a first for the South African Search and Rescue Industry, collar-wearing heroes of the K9 Unit will now be able to soar to the rescue, lending a paw faster than ever.
South Africa (22 May, 2023)— Collar-wearing heroes of the K9 Search and Rescue Association Unit of South Africa (K9 SARA) will now be able to take to the skies consistently; making lending a paw that much quicker.
The K9 SARA, a non-profit volunteer association recently shared the thrilling news of a first for the search and rescue industry, announcing that they’ve teamed up with an airline to make sure that all the pawsome officers will get to the areas where they’re needed most, faster and smoother than ever.
Teaming up with LIFT, a test flight was underway for K9 Jedi who aptly got to enjoy a little sky-walking between Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The partnership means that the K9s will be deployed faster and with better rest before their helping paws hit the ground!
Move Over Scooby-Doo, There Are Other Dog Heroes Too!
South Africa’s K9 Association helps train some of the fluffier heroes of our country to do good. Part of a volunteership, dogs with a knack for search and rescue get to be part of helpful efforts but still, go home to their owners.
They’re the eyes, ears and noses behind many smaller-scale rescues, especially wilderness searches in areas like the Western Cape where K9 SARA was established.
But, thanks to their new wings, they’ll be able to jet off all over South Africa if needed.
We wish them many safe flights!
