The FlySafair R9 sale was as crazy as it was touching. From people finally being able to fly for the first time to family reunions made possible, here are the most heartwarming stories from the lucky winners!

South Africa (04 May 2023) — South Africans put their luck to the test yesterday, hoping to win flights cheaper than bottled water thanks to the R9 FlySafair lucky sale.

Financially, times are tough in our country, and initiatives like this can make a world of difference to people who can’t afford to be there for special moments, family members and reunions under traditional flight circumstances.

So, people glued themselves to their computer screens, dedicated patience to the cause and crossed their fingers and toes in hopes of grabbing one of the 50,000 R9 flights on offer.

As if it were the Amazing Race, the sale took place until the flights ran out, which meant accepted queue numbers had to move quickly (with only 10 minutes at hand) to find their flights and book them.

Not everyone could be a winner, but for those who are, those tuckshop-priced flights meant someone’s first time on an aeroplane, a sped-up reunion with family and friends for someone else or a dream come true for their loved ones, and we think that’s pretty awesome!
