The Voice SA finalist, Lana Crowster, 33, fights to achieve her New York University dream, and she is only 10% away from her goal.

Cape Town, South Africa (20 August 2021) – The Voice South Africa, season 1, gave us many special singers. One among them captured many of our hearts. Lana Crowster, the girl on fire, became quite a sensation during those times. It’s saddening that this great talent has been facing many struggles to achieve her dream of attending a New York University pursuing her Masters in Music Business degree.

In September, Lana will finally start attending the prestigious university to pursue her Masters in Music Business degree.

NYU, one of the most reputed universities globally, has been Crowster’s dream always. But Lana was not eligible to apply for scholarships as NYU doesn’t offer scholarships for international students. This prevented her from attending the University in the month of September as she was supposed to.

The lack of funds became a serious problem, and Crowster started a crowd-funding campaign to help raise the remaining R150 000.

“I was supposed to start school in September 2019 but due to lack of funding and sponsorship, I was unable to attend,” says Lana.

After Covid 19, the situation became worse. She notes that the funds collected through Back-a-buddy will be enough to cover her tuition fees.

“The funds will be used to cover tuition for one year. (It’s a 2-year degree) or any part of it that is not covered by the scholarships I’ve applied for/will be applying for,” Lana says.

“Funds raised will be paid into my bank account and to the relevant institution.”

She aims to share her journey with young creatives, especially young women, inspiring them as much as she can so that they can find their way through the complex industry skillfully.
