Thembokuhle Shongwe, is a self-made millionaire at 21, qualified financial analyst, forex trader and full-time serial entrepreneur and is now to add a tittle author at the age of 25.
Whatever you’re entrepreneurial endeavour, if you read (according to Thembokuhle) and work hard enough, you will reach your goals.
Thembokuhle is set to launch his book ‘THE LAST MAN standing’, on 26 May 2018 at Davinci Hotel in Sandton, Time 12:00 o’clock midday the day.
We caught up with Thembokuhle to find out more about the journey of this impressive entrepreneur.
Where did it all start for you?
I always had a lot of small businesses growing up. From selling sweets in primary school to being a waiter. I also read all of the books that I could get my hands on. Finally, when preparation and opportunity met each other I got into forex trading, which I used it as a vehicle to fund my other business.
It’s all about having goals, a clear plan, action and the knowledge of making money work for you.
What was the biggest challenge you faced and overcame on your journey to becoming a millionaire?
Making people believe. I always had these great ideas and opportunities that I wanted to pursue. However, I had to convince the people around me to believe in my dreams with me. I needed to convince them in order to receive their commitment, time and effort. You cannot do it on your own. If you can show people the world from your point of view, you can recruit them to your cause.
Who/what inspires you daily?
I am inspired by Jabulani Ngcobo who gave me an opportunity. As well as the youngsters that I mentor that look up to me. My success inspires the people around me. THAT inspires me.
How are you encouraging the growth of entrepreneurship in South Africa?
The book teaches the correct mind-set, soft-skills and financial concepts to enable new entrepreneurs while helping the current entrepreneurs grow. My book also shows that anything is possible. I’m from a normal lower-middle class family in Swaziland. I didn’t have any wealthy parents or uncles. If I can do it. Everyone and anyone can do it. I know that this will encourage our youth to believe that they can do the same. They need to believe that there are still opportunities for them in our country and that they CAN reach success no matter what their current circumstances.
For those who haven’t read your book yet, provide one form of self-development they can invest in now.
Start reading a book. At least 1 book every 3 months. They can start with 5 pages a day. My mentor taught me one of the most important lessons I have ever learned; “If you want to become a millionaire, you have to learn from a millionaire”. That’s how I started; reading books by other millionaires in order to learn from them. It changes your mindset and the way you see finances and opportunity.
What’s the next step for the Millionaire at 25?
Firstly: Spread the word, advertise and distribute the books as much as possible. I will also start visiting schools all over the country to spread the knowledge on a larger scale.
Secondly: Create a support structure to support the new emerging entrepreneurs and millionaires. I will create a YouTube channel to interact with my readers. I will also create a business and entrepreneur consulting division. I want this to be a movement and not just a once-off book.
Why should people buy and read your book?
I believe that the book teaches the correct financial mind-set and concepts to enable everyone and anyone to become financially independent. If you want to be able to reach your dreams and do what you have to do without financial and time constraints, you should buy and read the book.
