The Care Closet has hygiene products, dinner boxes, clean socks, a sewing kit and even clothing that kids can take for free, whenever they may need it. Even if it’s for another sibling or family member.

Kentucky, USA (15 March 2022) – A school teacher from Kentucky is going viral on TikTok with something called a “Care Closet”, and even though it’s not a South African story, this might be the most beautiful thing you see today!

Carey Arensberg is a fourth-grade teacher at George Hall Elementary in Mobile’s Maysville Community. In the United States, the fourth grade is the second last school year of elementary school in most schools. Students are usually 9 or 10 years old unless the child has been held back or skipped a grade.

“She is a true leader at the school and believes that having long-term, positive relationships with students will help them be successful. She has made it her mission to reach children academically as well as by making lasting connections that she hopes will carry over through middle and high school. She includes time in her classroom for students to write about their experiences and struggles.”

The passionate teacher goes beyond the call of duty and has used her own funds, as well as donated funds, to create something called a “Care Closet” for her students.

“The Care Closet has hygiene products, dinner boxes, clean socks, a sewing kit and even clothing that kids can take for free, whenever they may need it. Even if it’s for another sibling or family member.”

Arensberg recently uploaded a video that has garnered nearly a million views explaining why she has a “Care Closet” in her classroom and why it was so important.
