The Mdzananda Animal Clinic shared a post showing how their work in educating the community to treat their pets with dignity is working, this family is warming hearts.
The Mdzananda Animal Clinic is a permanent, NPO, veterinary council registered animal clinic in the Khayelitsha township of Cape Town. The clinic helps serve a community of over 300,000 animals, ensuring they are well cared for, vaccinated and sterilised.
The clinic was founded in 1996 and sees around 700 animals a month. They also work to re-home strays and educate the community members on the importance of caring for the animals in the community.
“We believe that a community that loves animals is a healthy community. By looking after an animal people learn responsibility, respect for life, compassion and non-violence. These are valuable attributes which flow over into everyday life.”
This education programme has started showing its fruits. The clinic recently shared a heartwarming image of a man and his child wheeling their sickly dog through the township all the way to the clinic.
“Love and compassion for their pet…
This family made a creative plan to get their pet to Mdzananda for help. Their dog can’t walk and since they don’t have a car to transport him, they made him a comfortable ride all the way to Mdzananda.”
Sadly their biggest donor has had to pull funding due to the global financial woes. The clinic refuses to give up and will continue to work to save the animals. See all their information below to see how you can help them this year.
They have launched their PawMember membership programme and are aiming to recruit 3000 members. They only need R100.00 from each member to help them cover the costs of the daily expenses. You can find out more here and see how your money will be spent.
The Animal clinic has a wishlist so if you would rather donate solid goods, you can donate the items on the list. They also have a small charity shop and are always looking for goods like Books, clothes and DVD’s to sell.
