The Mdzananda Animal Clinic shared Ayanda and Mercy’s story, showing what real love and animal care looks like. After Mercy was injured, Ayanda made a plan with a trolley to get her to the vet.
South Africa (30 June 2023) – The Mdzananda Animal Clinic shared an incredibly heartwarming story about a man that made a water-proofed trolley so he could get his sister’s injured dog to the clinic. He placed Mercy on a warm blanket and put plastic over the top of the trolley to keep the dog dry.
The Mdzananda Animal Clinic is a permanent, veterinary council registered, NPO animal clinic in Khayelitsha, a township just outside of Cape Town, South Africa, which is home to 400 000 people (2011 census) and their pets. The clinic sees around 1500 animals per month.
During winter the Mdzananda Animal Clinic is packed to the brim. Pets needing medical assistance tend to increase during this time. Some reasons include hypothermia as well as broken bones due to people driving recklessly in bad weather and running pets over.
The man that visited them, restored their faith in humanity with his dedication to his sister’s pet.
“This is love. In this icy weather Ayanda walked far in the rain to bring his sister’s dog for help at Mdzananda – pushed in a trolley equipped with an overhang to keep her dry and comfortable. The dog, Mercy, was attacked by another dog and will receive treatment to help her get better.”
The clinic is working towards helping families through the winter by supplying winter packs. They are hoping to collect all kinds of pet-related items to fill boxes for families in need. Families much like Ayanda and Mercy.
