Jan-Nico Coetzee was travelling through an unsafe area when he realised his tyre was flat. He pulled over to sort it out and a friendly truck driver stopped to help him out.
South Africa (02 February 2018) – Jan-Nico Coetzee was having a bit of a tough day when he met a friendly truck driver. The truck driver offered to help him sort out his flat tyre and get him back on the road as soon as possible. Jan-Nico shared the story on his Facebook and confirmed it was one of the reasons why he is proudly South African.
His account of the situation is pretty entertaining, but he ends it by thanking his 18-wheeler saviour. This story shows the spirit of Ubuntu, and we love it!
This is Jan-Nico’s story.
Here is one of the many reasons why I’m proudly South African:
Paragraph 5.2 on page 145 of Murphy’s Law clearly states: “I cannot confirm or deny that you will get a flat tyre whilst wearing your only clean white work shirt”.
That happened today.
Just outside Marrianhill Toll Plaza, I was The unfortunate winner of a tyre flatter than a 5-litre papsak at a student party. Using colourful language to celebrate this achievement from underneath the bakkie (that’s a pickup truck for American folk), I noticed a big Anderson Transport interlink pull over, and the biggest smiling guy approaches me saying “come, it’s not safe here, let’s get you on the road again”.
In no time he has helped me, not wanting any money I offered as a thank you. He just looked at me and said, “one day you will help me when I need it”.
Lusanda (I hope that’s your name if I remember correctly), you sir are the hope that keeps this South African dream of ours alive!
We love sharing stories like this with you guys. Have you ever had a great experience like this?
