Traditional Wear

A man was filmed accepting his university degree while wearing full traditional wear and the internet has gone wild, they absolutely love that he was able to represent his heritage on such an important day.

The video was shared on the “I am African and Proud” Facebook page but unfortunatly the caption and most of the comments are in French. We managed to translate the caption “The day of graduation, while everyone is wearing a tie suit, he comes to take his diploma in traditional dress of the ethnic group to which he belongs … We tell you respect brother”

There is very little information on the post regarding which university the young man is graduating from or where in the world this is.

One thing, however, is clear… The pride this young man had on his graduation day radiates through our screens and whacks us right in the hearts. It is incredibly heartwarming seeing this man embrace his culture and accept his degree in his own unique way.

We couldn’t stop smiling while watching the video. The video itself has gone viral and has received nearly 300,000 views. People are in absolute awe and have found the moment to be empowering.

The joy and pride of loving one’s identity; the respect of one’s culture; the keeping up with and what defines your belief and uniqueness 🙏🏽🙆🏾❤️👊🏽 halalalala!” – Jameela Gilika
