Oldie Duke has been settling into life at the Boksburg SPCA, enjoying hearty meals and now, they have shared he is getting ready for his new retirement home.
Boksburg, South Africa (15 March 2024) – This update is warming our hearts, over and over again! Oldie Duke, whose story we featured in late February, has found a loving and warm retirement home to spend his golden years!
The Boksburg SPCA were left shocked when oldie Duke was led into the SPCA having been found abandoned at the front gate. It was evident that he was an ex-hunting dog, covered in many old scars and suffering from several broken toes that had healed badly. His old body had taken a lot of strain over the years.
Several people had suggested Duke get a comfy new bed and donated towards one. Duke’s tired body was covered by several pressure sores, showing that he had spent many long, cold nights on hard surfaces. But not any more, thanks to the bed donation.
The Boksburg SPCA shared the happy update that donors had made sure every night from now on is comfortable and warm. He got a snazzy new bed filled with cosy blankets and cushions, and he is sporting a warm jersey to boot!
But then… His story touched so many hearts and before long, the Boksburg SPCA had several requests to adopt Duke. The shared in a recent update, that he will soon be heading to his retirement home where he will be showered in love and good things for the rest of his life.
