In 2022, fifteen men from the Leribe Village in QwuQwu, Free State hauled their spades and tools over a pass to make a road after theirs was washed away.
Free State, South Africa (23 November 2023) – Fifteen men from the Leribe Village in QwuQwu, Free State came together last year to do something for the community. Their road had washed away, so they made a new one to allow medical services to reach the village.
Phakathi Victor reached out to Good Things Guy to share the work done by his community, saying the men deserved a great deal of praise for their efforts and hard work.
He shared that between the 15 men who volunteered, they managed to get the road cleared and set up within four months.
“To me, they have done good thing for Leribe Village community, because there were no roads after rain washed away the one made by municipality. They are heros of the village.”
“Even today, [the] community still use that road n those men they continue volunteering to maintain it where looks damaged because of rain.” – Phakathi Victor
The road stretches for about 1km and is just enough for medical services to reach the village
“No one showed some recognition for their good work, I feel like I owe them for that good work.”
The 15 men remain community heroes to this day, helping wherever they can, to make the lives of their community, a little bit better.
