Madeleine Fullard took to social media to applaud Dr Mohammed Variava for his efforts of sending detailed voice notes for each of his patients’ families.

Krugersdorp, South Africa (22 October 2021) – Dr Mohammed Variava, a Nephrologist at Netcare Pinehaven Hospital, is being hailed for going above his call of duty.

Since before the pandemic, Dr Variava made an effort to call the loved ones of each of his patients after doing his rounds. He continued that duty once the pandemic started but, due to time, adopted a new way of keeping people updated.

Thanks to WhatsApp voice notes, the families of his patients received detailed notes each day. As the pandemic meant people couldn’t visit or even be in the hospital near their loved ones.

Madeleine Fullard shared the story on her Twitter page, applauding his efforts. She has since had so many people responding, sharing their own experiences with the incredible doctor.

I want to applaud Dr Mohammed Variava at @Netcare_Limited Pinehaven hospital, which sends voice notes EVERY MORNING to his patients’ families with updates. A friend’s family members were under his care for MONTHS. I could not believe the voice notes. Beyond the call of duty!

The Netcare Pinehaven Hospital Facebook page is also filled with compliments for the doctor. In June of this year, Malie Kelly shared her thanks.

“It is with immense gratitude that Melissa and I would like to sincerely thank Netcare Pinehaven Hospital, all the nursing staff and sisters in ICU who treated us like family you are so loved and appreciated.

Very Special thank you to Dr Mohammed Variava

And his wife Dr Variava – I really have no words – you so meticulously and with so much care, love and compassion looked after Ashley and walked the extra million miles. Meant so much… God bless you and thank you”

Cornel Galtrey shared in July of this year that the doctor was treating his brother. He added,

“I have never known a doctor like that with his caring, God conscious bedside manner. Yet he still tells it like it is. We get a voice message update from him every single morning.

We are praying for all the doctors, nurses and staff during this horrible time! Thank you for everything you do not just for the sick people, but also for their families who cannot visit their loved ones.

God Bless you all!”

We are blessed to have doctors like Dr Mohammed Variava. Not to mention every frontline healthcare worker that has given of themselves during these trying times.
